questions you use to interview references should be based on information
you want to confirm from the application and interview. If you noted
any areas of concern during the interview now is the time to explore
them.

regarding candidate/reference relationship:
- How
long have you known the candidate?
- What
were your position(s) and responsibilities when you supervised the
candidate?

regarding the facts:
- What
were the candidates start and end dates of employment?
- What
was the candidates starting pay and ending pay?

did the candidate perform compared to standards/expectations?
